Electric shavers - Find the best info and review

Electric shavers are grooming accessories used to trim body hair. They are an alternative to the razor which has for long been used for shaving purposes. These shavers run on an electric current produced by batteries or electricity. The reason why they are so popular is that they provide a fast and convenient shave. However, only the best electric shaver will provide a clean cut as is seen with the razor.

How do electric shavers work?

As mentioned the electric shaver is run by an electric current. The current is used to power a built in motor. The work of the motor is to run rotating blades which in turn trim hair. Depending on the design, the shaver comes with two main parts. First is the head which contains the houses a metal grid. The grid comes into contact with the skin. Its main purpose is to protect the skin from the blades as well as lifting hair for effective shaving. The head also houses the cutting blades.

The second part of the electric shaver is the handle. This houses the motor, controls and electrical circuitry. The electrical circuitry can be either the power cord or battery connections.

What are electric shavers used for?

These shavers are used for trimming body hair. They are usually used to trim facial and scalp hair but can be used to trim hair on other body parts such as the legs.

Considerations to make when searching for the best electric shavers.

Types of electric shavers

Before investing in the best electric shaver, it's considered best to know more about the different types. There are two main types of electric shavers. First are the rotary electric shavers. These have rotating circular blades which spin in different directions during the shave. These are considered the best for trimming long hair and shaving along contours. The second type is the foil electric shaver. These have spinning blades that are housed behind steel foils. These shavers have one or more blades. The number of blades usually determines the size of the shaving head and, the speed of the shave.

Dry or wet-dry

Depending on your preference, you'll have to choose from either type of shaver. Dry electric shavers should only be used on dry hair. They don't give you the option of shaving with cream either. Wet-dry electric shavers are considered the best electric shavers simply due to their convenience. They allow you to shave using cream and can be immersed in water for cleaning.

Corded or cordless

Electric shavers are either corded or cordless. The corded type is connected to the power source when shaving. When selecting a corded electric shaver, consider whether it can be used outside the US without need for an adapter. Cordless shavers on the other hand are powered with a rechargeable battery. Some of the cordless shavers can be converted to corded shavers using a cable. These are especially efficient if you haven't recharged the battery but wish to shave.
